Episode 17 - Going Home
Location: Starfleet Marine Corp Headquarters - Hecates Tholus Mars
Timeline: MD016 0800 hrs
"General, I have your brother online." Marine Captain. Feren X'tal, Seamus' adjutant reported.
"Thank you, Captain, put him through." Seamus ordered.
Thinking it to be Andrew, the eldest brother was surprised to Sean's face instead.
"Congratulations on the promotion, you old son-of-a-b**ch." Sean said by way of a greeting.
"Thank you, but must you be so vulgar, Brother?" Seamus asked.
"You sound like you've got too much starch in your trousers, Brother." Sean replied.
"Very amusing." He said sarcastically. "I hear you made Chief Engineer, how do you like being part of the Senior Staff?"
"You know me as long as I get to stay in the Engine Room some of the time, I'm happy." Sean replied. "I still get the side eye from some of the Greenhorn Ensigns that have to take orders from me." He added with as laugh.
"Well, that's to be expected, but we both know that in the Fleet, just like in the Corps, the Noncoms are the backbone of the service."
"Hear, hear, brother." Sean said. "So, brother, does this promotion come with a nice cushy post?"
'Yes, but I wouldn't call it 'cushy', its a Marine forward base, out on the edge near Cardassian Space."
"Sounds lonely, and boring, if you ask me." Sean replied.
"I'm a good Marine, I go where I'm needed."
Sean rolled his eyes. "So, which fleet vessel has the honour of transporting your esteemed self to your new post?"
"The Bosworth will take me to Empok Nor, and the Pioneer will take me to Camp Nostromo."
"The Pioneer , doesn't Hermia serve on that ship?"
"Yes, Edward too." Seamus replied.
"Oh, and that fiery Betazoid wife of yours, live on Empok Nor, looks like it's going to be a bit of a family reunion." Sean said with a smile.
"Titania and I are separated." Seamus reminded him.
"Only, because you don't know how to keep hold of a fine woman." Sean said. "You promised poor Fiona, on her deathbed, that you'd seek out love again, and we all thought you'd found that with Fair Titania, but now you've arsed that up. The Corps isn't the only thing in your life, dear brother."
"It was a mutual decision. We both went our separate ways."
"Mutual decision, my arse, you ignored her, just like Fiona, but she stayed with you, for all the good it did her."
"She understood." Seamus said as his memories of his late wife, threatened to bring a tear to his eye."
"Yeah, and it led her to any early grave." Sean replied. "Don't make the same mistake, again, show Titania you love her, before she finds someone new."
"Stay, out of my love life." Seamus almost yelled.
"I would if you knew how to maintain one." Sean called back.
Seamus didn't respond, he just ended the call.
When hus screen returned to its default setting, Sean said. "Oh Seamus, you always were high strung." He sighed then returned to his own paperwork
