Episode 17 - Going Home
Location: Libby, Montana - United States - Earth
Timeline: MD026 0900 hrs
They had transported to her home town, Libby, Montana. Millie was quite happy to be there. The place had mountains, wide open spaces, and the town wasn't too big. And lots of trees, not too far from the national forest her mother works in. "Welcome to my humble town. Libby, Montana!" grinning ear to ear.
"Adventure awaits at my home, with my brothers. They have the motorcycles waiting for us. If you still choose to ride the open road?"
Millie was dressed in a black tank and black jeans. She wore a pair of motorcycle boots. Her hair was pulled back in a loose ponytail.
Vura was dressed in a skin tight black leather jumpsuit with thigh high boots and stiletto heels. She looked around. It seemed that a lot of folks on the ship liked wide open spaces and mountains. After all, was that not the same as Tyler's ranch? "Oh, I'm ready to ride!" Vura replied enthusiastically.
Millie gave Vura a really good look. "Great outfit, except for the stiletto heels of your boots. You'd lose your heels when riding on the motorcycle. I can get you outfitted with some more sturdy boots but I will say that you do look rather sexy in it and uh just to warn you, my brothers would probably whistle at you." Millie grinned from ear to ear.
"I'm used to whistles," Vura replied simply and shrugged. "But, if you think that I need different boots, I'll trust you, though I think the stilettos really complete the outfit."
"They certainly do, just don't want them to be ruined." Millie replied as she took a closer look at the boots. "Those are rather nice."
"Just to give you a heads up, Vura my brothers, much like me, aren't really the genteel sorts. They work in construction, along with working on motorcycles and on other sorts of vehicles. They are a bit rough and tumble." Millie giving a grin.
"And?" Vura questioned Millie.
Millie chuckled. "Than again, that's not something you'd be worried about, would you?"
Just then two rather tall men came up, both of them built like lumber jacks broad of chest, and shoulder muscles from doing hard labor, no pumping iron. Both were wearing long sleeves, one a dark blue plaid, the other a dark red flannel shirt. Not plaid. The sleeves were rolled up to their elbows.
Rhys had dark brown eyes. Joshua had hazel eyes. both having broad grins which were white against their tanned skins. Each wore a pair of jeans which were a faded blue.
"Hey sis, and woah who is this!" Rhys, calling out to them as he and Joshua approached the trio.
Joshua gave out a wolf whistle of approval. "Hello lady, beautiful you want to be going out on a ride on the open road?"
Vura gave an alluring grin at Rhys and Joshua. "I'm Vura." She gave a mock shy wave at them both. "Who might you boys be? Are you going to be teaching lil' ol' me how to ride today? Or is that just Millie's job?"
Millie looked at her brothers then towards Vura then the motorcycle she'd be riding. "Joshua, I'll be taking Vura on the motorcycle with me." giving a laugh.
"I've got to change my clothing, and we need to fit you with some boots, Vura, those are outstanding boots but I don't want them ruined, like what was said before." Millie giving a huge smile.
"And we'll be needing to wear a helmet when we ride. This is to keep from getting bugs flying into our eyes. There are built in communication in the helmets, so we can talk over the rush of the wind. It can get loud." Millie stated.
Vura pouted momentarily. She wanted to see but the thought of bugs flying into her immaculate face was worse. "I want to see and feel it all," she told Millie. "So, if I need a helmet to do it, then so be it. Hopefully it won't be too heavy...."
"It might feel slightly heavy but it will protect you as well, Vura. Okay let's get geared up."
A half an hour later, with proper boots and clothing on, Millie led Vura to where her motorcycle was.
Millie's motorcycle was a BMW R1200GS a machine that she had restored. An all around functioning motorcycle that can be utilized in various ways. She'd used it when going into the forest to aid her mom delivering supplies. Then out on the open road she could open the throttle and ride fast and furious.
It was black in color with flecks of silver in it, almost a pattern of stars in it. It certainly seemed to shimmer in the sunlight. Upon the side of it was painted in silver was, Trouble. for that was what Millie had decided to name her motorcycle. Just so she could have the fun of someone saying, here comes Trouble.
"Are we ready to hit the open road?" Millie starting the engine of Trouble. hearing the rumble of the engine, and the resonance being echoed through the framework of the machinery. Millie smiled, Trouble was in good working order.
"Vura, climb on and wrap your arms around my waist." Millie wasn't worried about skin contact as the outfits that they wore, had total skin coverage.
Vura put on some leather gloves and then the helmet. She also had taken the time to change into the boots that Millie got her earlier. Vura teased Millie, "You just want a special squeeze from a Deltan, do you? Not many can brag about that."
Millie chuckled. "You're my first! And my last," she quipped. "I don't think I could deal with a male Deltan." Millie gave pause, "I just realized, this is the first time I am getting a hug from you, this is great!!"
Millie raising a gloved hand in triumph. "Let's go!"
As the machines roared down the road, a song kicked in, something that Millie hadn't changed since the last time she had gone on the road, with Trouble.
'Born to Be Wild' by Steppenwolf.
Vura screamed wildly with glee. The roar of the machines thrilled her and she watched as the landscape started to pass by. She squeezed Millie tightly by the waist, enjoying all the sensations. Vura called out to Millie, "Go faster! Go faster! Make my heart pound!"
"Hold on tight Vura, you're going to need to do so." Millie stated, then once they got to a good straight part of the road, she kicked the motorcycle to its top speed of 188 miles an hour.
A curve came up, and Millie took it her concentration was making certain they made the curve, Millie knew the road, so familiar with it. she did slow the motorcycle down to a more moderate speed.
"How are you holding up there Vura?" Millie asking.
Vura held onto Millie more tightly and instinctively sensed when Millie's body moved and she moved along with it. The Deltan might have been svelte but she knew how to move her body so she was not blown off or caught in an incorrect position despite the centripetal forces.
The Counselor simply answered Millie with a joyful voice, "MORE!"
Millie laughed, loving Vura's reaction. "Glad you are enjoying yourself. And I'm having fun as well."
There was a beep on her helmet's coms,
"Hey Mom, what's up?" Millie asked.
"Grandma's made some fresh chocolate chip cookies, she says if you want them piping hot, you'd better get back as quick as you can!" her mom responded.
"Thanks Mom, tell Grandma we're on our way." Millie closed the communications there.
"Well Vura you're in for a treat. Just wait until you taste my grandmother's cookies."
Millie turned the motorcycle around and heading back at the same speed she did before. 188 miles, but slowed down when they got to the town limits. There were laws that did need to be followed.
Vura answered Millie, "Cookies are good, but this is more fun."
"Well, my grandmother's cookies have been called sinfully delicious. You've got to try them. I'm looking forward to having some of them right now." Millie responded. "I know you love tasting and experiencing different things and just try them. You'll see, well, hopefully you will like them."
As she guided the motorcycle to where she can park it just outside of the shop. The town had an old-style feel to it. It wasn't all teched up it was more old fashioned. Quiet little town, well sort of.
As Millie took off her helmet and shook her hair loose someone called out from across the street.
"Hey its Double Trouble!"
Millie laughed and waved. "Well with my friend here, its triple trouble!"
The passer-by a middle aged man gave out a laugh and moved on.
The sign above the bakery they stood, had a green awning, and the name of the place was Mabel's bakery. Millie looked up and gave out a chuckle. "Gran's last name is Baker, so decided to name it Mabel's though I still think it would have been fun to have it titled Baker's Bakery."
"That would have been rather redundant," Vura agreed. "Now, what's this with the nickname of 'Double Trouble' and why do I only count for single trouble?"
"My motorcycle is called Trouble, and I am called Trouble. Hence double trouble and since you are with me its Triple Trouble." Millie responded with a grin. "Therefore, Triple Trouble."
"I'm no trouble..." Vura told Millie with an elongated tone. She then stuck her index finger to create a dimple to emphasize her point. "I'm just lil' ol' me....."
Millie gave out a laugh, "And you're so innocent." Millie winked at Vura, then she opened the door a silvery tune jingled out cheerily. "Hi Grandma, I'm here! This my best friend, Vura!"
Millie took off her helmet, and placed it upon a nearby shelf.
Millie's grandmother wore an apron, a dusting of flour on her cheek came up and gave Millie a warm embrace.
"Good to see, you dearie." Mabel responded, with a smile. She turned towards Vura.
"Hello, I'm Mabel, and you are?" the woman greeted Vura, with a smile, her dark hair was sprinkled with fleck of white.
Vura's eyes widened at Millie's introduction. Best friend? What? Huh? What did I miss? She then recovered and smiled warmly at Mabel. "I'm Vura, Chief Counselor on the Pioneer. If you are Millie's grandmother, then I have been told that you make the best chocolate chip cookies...."
Mabel gave a chuckle, "So I've been told, you'll have to taste them yourself, for your own judgement. Though I do have a decadent triple chocolate cake." She gave Vura an assessing look, "Hopefully you can eat chocolate. I know of some people who are allergic to it."
"Oh, I'm happy to taste whatever you might have," Vura replied with an eager grin. "I have no allergies. What I will have, probably, is a slightly larger behind after sampling so many things."
Mabel who had observed Vura's slim figure gave a warm chuckle, "I'm certain that with how active you seem to be, I don't think you will be needing to worry about gaining weight." She gave Vura a warm smile. "Come with me; let's get some samples for you to taste, and eat." She led the younger women to the back of the shop.
In the back there was a table set up in the breakroom where Mabel brought out some cookies as well an assortment of pastries for them both to eat. There was bread, as well.
"Coffee, or tea or milk?" Mabel asked.
Vura's eyes remained fixed on all the desserts. "Tea, please. Surprise me with something herby."
Mabel pulled out the tea, her choice was hibiscus tea. Her first choice though was peppermint tea, one of her own making. It would pair rather well with the chocolate chip cookies.
Millie went with some green tea then she set to eating some of the cookies, and also eating some of the mini tarts that her grandmother came up with. Her favorite was lemon, her next was, quadruple berry tart. Yes she loved the chocolate chips but there was just something about lemons she loved. Then again there was the saying 'When life hands you lemons. Make lemonade!' Or even more not to sweet, take the lemon and squeeze it back in opponents eyes. Millie had a closed mouthed smile when she thought of that.
