Mission:
Episode 17 - Going Home
Location: SS Wyvern - Trivas Sector - Cardassian Space
Timeline: MD002 1900 hrs
"Oh, well..." Annie sure did have good taste in dresses! And while the green one was more simple, and suited to her personality, the other was really pretty, and... well, it reminded her of dancing in a Fairy Circle, so why not?
"That one, I think. Do you know if this crate has a holodeck?"
"Yes it does." Annie taking Audie by the hand. "Lets go!"
It was a small one but there needed to be something for kids to get some exercise and entertainment upon the Wyvern.
Annie took Audie where it was located. "Here you go." she stated with a smile.
"Great!" Audie felt almost like a princess in the flowing gown, with her hair all done up! It was nice for occasional play, but she couldn't imagine always having to dress like this. It was restricting, but then, what did a princess have to do?
"Here now..." She typed in some commands, then opened the doors, revealing a forest and a Fairy Ring of flowers. "I bet there's a unicorn hiding here somewhere!"
"A unicorn? Can we go look for it?" Annie's bright blue eyes looking all around. She stopped and looked at the pretty fairy ring of flowers. "Do you like fairies? And do you like to climb trees?" these were serious questions the little girl was asking. Well to her they were important.
"I like both." Chuckling, Audie took Annie's hand and stepped all the way into the room so the door could close, engulfing them in the environment. They were met with the faint aroma of pine and flowers, along with the chatter of birds and the soft rustle of wind in the treetops.
"It would be hard to climb trees in these dresses, but we can pick flowers and explore some... look for unicorn prints?"
"Okay that sounds good." Annie looked down at her dress. "You know something Auntie Audie, next time lets dress up in clothing so we can climb trees, I would love that and also make mudpies, even if you can't eat them.. Though.." Annie got a contemplative look in her eyes.
"There is that deseert called mudpies and those are really good." Annie commented as she looked for signs of a unicorn. "Would we see a big one or a little unicorn."
"You're right, we're not dressed for mudpies," Audie pointed out, taking the girl's hand as they walked, "so maybe next time pirates? Or explorers?" Of course, this little outing hadn't been planned, so there were great possibilities if they looked ahead.
But for now, this was fun!
"We could see if there's a gingerbread cottage somewhere!" Well, she hadn't programmed that in, but that could change.
A few yards ahead of them, there was a flash of white that flitted through the shadows in the trees, then was gone. "Did you see that?"
Annie nodded enthusiastically "Yes, I see it lets go and could it be the unicorn or a bunny? Though could the unicorn be really fluffy? Or that would more be the bunny.." the little girl asked thoughtfully.
"A really bunny!" Audie laughed as they started in the direction of the phantom. "Maybe a unicorn bunny?" Now that would be something to behold! "Look at this!"
There was what looked like a trail of flowers snaking through the forest. "Do you think the unicorn left this?"
"Maybe? Lets go find out." Annie squealed, as she skipped alongside of Audie. She paused for a moment to pluck up a flower, to take in its scent. "Smells good"
"This whole place smells good," Audie agreed, "like... magic, if it had a scent." Part of her could stay in a place like this forever, or at least keep it as a retreat away from daily life. Too bad it was just a simulation.
"There it is again!" Audie pointed to a spot of white fluff crouched in some bushes. "Why don't you see if it will let you talk to it?"
Annie was enthralled at the sight of the bunnicorn, her blue eyes going round as saucers. Carefully she moved forward,then knelt down speaking softly, "Hello, you are so fluffy and so pretty. Do you want this yummy flower?" holding out the flower.
Nose twitching and taking the whiskers along with it, the bunnicorn took one tentative hop then another before going right up to Annie and sniffing her fingers. Then it gently touched her hand with its horn before accepting the offering, gently nibbling the flower.
"See there," Audie whispered, "you really are a princess!"
Annie was so enthralled with what was happening she kept herself still, her eyes shining brightly.
"Thank you." Annie answered back. "I want to keep this memory." she then said softly, "Computer, I hope you saved our adventure. This way Auntie Audie and I can come play again."
There was a gentle beep as if in answer. Then Annabelle's voice came over the intercom. "Annie, its time for you to go to bed."
Annie gave out a sigh when she heard that, looking at the bunnicorn.
"It looks like we have to end this adventure." turning her attention to Audie.
"But it was a good one, and you are right, we need to save it so we can come back." Grinning, Audie gently ruffled Annie's hair. "Computer, end program."
In an instant, they were in a empty room, marked only with a grid... And... a plush little unibunnycorn where the animated program one had been!
Annie squealed out when she saw the unibunnycorn, picking it up and giving it an embrace.
Then Annie looked at Audie. "What about you? Don't you want one, maybe Buster would like another friend. Along with the stuffed Mindy."
"Oh, I think I'll be fine, I have Buster to cuddle with, and he loves his Mindy." Grinning, Audie took Annie's free hand to walk her to her quarters, sorta hoping that no one saw her in her princess outfit! It would ruin her reputation!
There was a slight sound from down the corridor, Annie turned to look behind. "What was that?"
From behind there would be a momentary glimpse of Stefan, Max and Lucian peering around the corner having huge smiles.
Oh, great! Audie felt her cheeks start to burn red as she rolled her eyes. She'd never live this down!
Annie waved towards them,"Goodnight Uncle Max and Uncle Stefan. Goodnight Daddy."
The three of them, moving back around the corner out of sight.
"One word, gentlemen!" Audie called after the trio, "Vengeance!"
"I saw Daddy giving a thumbs up and the same for Uncle Stefan and Uncle Max. I think they thought we were very pretty." Annie remarked. "And I think so as well."
"Yes, we are very pretty, as well we should be." Playing never hurt, and she'd had a great time!
Once at her bedroom door, Annie asked. "Can you tuck me in?" giving a sleepy smile.
"Sure, I can do that." Audie followed the girl into her quarters, thinking that having family was a nice thing!
